The internet says he has a Blythe obsession. We went looking for proof.

Search for Johnny Depp Blythe dolls and you will find plenty of blogs saying the actor has a huge Blythe collection. An older version of this very page said the same thing. So we went back and checked, the way we should have the first time.
Here is the honest answer, in three parts.
We could not find any. We looked for an interview, a photo from a trusted outlet or a quote from Depp himself about Blythe, and found nothing reliable. Most of the Johnny Depp Blythe stories online repeat each other without naming a source.
That does not prove he has never owned a Blythe. It just means there is no good evidence that he does, so we are not going to claim it.
There is a real doll story here, and it is a sweet one. On Jimmy Kimmel Live in January 2015, Depp talked about playing with Barbies with his daughter, Lily-Rose, when she was younger. “We played a lot of Barbies,” he said, and explained that he “used to test characters on her.” You can read about the interview on TIME.
So the part that holds up is about Barbie, about being a dad, and about trying out silly voices on a very honest audience.
Our guess is simple. Depp is famous for unusual collections and quirky characters, and Blythe is a quirky, big-eyed doll with a cult following. It makes a fun story, so people kept telling it.
It is easy to picture a Blythe on a famous shelf. But a story being easy to picture is not the same as it being true, and collectors deserve real information before they repeat it or buy into it.

Unlike the Johnny Depp Blythe story, some celebrity fans are well documented. If you want a celebrity Blythe fan with actual receipts, look at Emma Roberts. In a 2024 interview she said she fell in love with Blythe dolls as she got older and owns “probably 14” of them. Read the full story in Emma Roberts and her Blythe dolls.
Blythe’s real fans are the collectors, artists and photographers who have kept her alive since she came back in 2001. If you want to know why so many people adore her, read why Blythe dolls are so popular, or meet her properly in what is a Blythe doll.
