Same big eyes, same colour-changing magic, with a face shape that feels a little more grown-up.

Most Blythe dolls share the same soft, round face. Our square face Blythe dolls are different. The Square Face is an original This Is Blythe design, first introduced by our studio: they have a squarer facial structure that gives the classic big-eyed look a slightly more defined, grown-up feel. If you love Blythe but want something a little unexpected on your shelf, this is the collection to look at.
Here is what makes a square face Blythe different, how she compares to the classic face, and how to choose.
A square face Blythe doll is a custom Neo-size Blythe with a squarer face shape than the usual round faceplate. Everything you love about Blythe stays the same: the oversized head, the four pairs of colour-changing eyes and the pull string at the back of her head. What changes is the outline of her face, which makes her expression read a little differently.
Collectors who know Blythe history might think of SBL, the official 2003 Neo Blythe mould with a square-bottomed head. Our square face dolls are our own original design, created in our studio. Our Blythe history guide explains the official moulds.

Neither is better. It simply depends on the personality you want her to have. Our guide to what a custom Blythe doll is explains the other choices that shape her look, from makeup to eye chips.

Three quick questions
Do you want sweet or striking? Round faces read sweeter, square faces read more striking. What hair colour do you love? Blonde and brown feel soft, black hair adds contrast. How will you display her? A square face photographs beautifully in side light, which shows off her shape.
Dress her in our Blythe doll clothes and shoes, and she is ready for her first photo shoot. Our Blythe photography tips will help.
