A finished OOAK Blythe looks effortless. Getting there is anything but. In our studio, at least six artists touch every doll, and around twelve to fourteen people are involved across the full journey from first sketch to your doorstep. A typical customization includes:
Face work. The faceplate is opened, sanded and carved by hand, then given a matte finish. Lips are carved into a smile, a pout or a soft neutral expression, then painted in thin layers. Blush, freckles and shading are applied with dry professional pastels and watercolor pencils, then sealed with a matte varnish with a UV filter so the artwork stays vivid for years.
Eyes. Custom dolls come with four pairs of hand made glass eye chips, so a single pull of the string gives your girl a whole new mood. Soft, fluffy natural eyelashes are applied after the head is assembled.
